It's been YEARS!

So I finally decided to come back and start writing again. It is a shame that my previously published work is hard to find. Most of the anthologies and websites that I have been published in are no longer being published or are extremely expensive. I guess that I will just have to find others to get published in. :)

I was just checking in. Until next time...

Long Time, No See

I have had two flash fiction stories released in print as well as a poem since the last time I posted. It is funny that this is the only record that I keep of where I have been published. I had almost forgotten about my Committee of the Mind flash fiction story that was published by Static Movement earlier this year. How the time flies!

This year has been slower than I had hoped. This is my fault though. You can't get published if you don't submit anything.

Anyway, I hope to be adding more to the list soon. *Fingers Crossed*

Poetry

My poem Looking Into the Abyss has been accepted for publication in the print collection Static Poetry II from Static Movement Press. A release date has not been announced. I will post more when the details become available to me.

Acceptances

My short story Fool-gazing has been accepted for the anthology Daily Flash 2012. My poem What Right? has been accepted at Calliope Nerve as is scheduled for publication on their website at the end of this month.

Hopefully the acceptances will not stop any time soon. 2011 is looking like it is going to be a good year. I have other requests still pending. I will let you know how it goes.

A New Year, A New Hope

Happy New Year Everyone! I hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday.

I have made a New Year's Resolution to complete and submit a novella this year (a story of at least 20,000 words). There are a few publishers that are willing to print stories of that length in electronic and paperback formats. I think a novel length story is still a little ways off for me. I just want to take it one step at a time. I'll let you know how it goes.

Anthologies Abound

I'm going to write several short stories in the next few weeks and submit them for anthologies from Pill Hill Press, Wicked East Press, and perhaps some others. This seems to be the best way to get some exposure at this point. I'll let you know how it goes.

Until next time...

Once More Into the Breach...

My flash fiction story Keep the Faith was published last month in the anthology Daily Bites of Flesh 2011 from Pill Hill Press. I have always been curious about organized religion; about what these people actually believe. That thought was the inspiration for my story.

In other news, I have moved to Indiana. I don't know how permanent this is going to be, though for the moment I will be able to get back to writing. Hopefully I will get some more stories published in the near future.

Until next time....

Life, Or The Lack Of

I haven't posted in a while, which means I haven't had anything to say. I took a trip to Florida. I stayed a night in West Palm Beach, another in Daytona Beach. I had a few flash fictions and a poem rejected. The sun rose and set as usual. So it goes.

It makes me wonder sometimes if editors mean what they say, or if it is just a form letter letting you down easy. "This is not for us, but please send us something else" seems to be my normal response. Funny thing is, I've yet to send them anything else. I think I'll give that a shot and see how it goes.

Until next time...

A Little Bit About Myself

My name is Shawn Michael Hornsby.  I live in a small town in northern Kentucky where there are just as many raccoons as people.  Some say it has to do with all of the wooded areas around here, though I think the ratio may have more sinister implications.

I am an author of science fiction and fantasy fiction.  My fantasy flash On Holiday appeared in the July 2010 issue of Static Movement.  My science fiction flash Passing Through is scheduled for release from Weirdyear on 9/9/10.  I currently have a few other submissions pending.  I will let you know how it goes.
